8th of March has become synonymous with women since the last few years. Women’s day is increasingly getting prominence and hogging the limelight. The so called Repressed sex is getting its due, rather earning its due. Women are getting heard and deservingly so. After all, who else but a woman can juggle a million tasks, perform a zillion roles and keep hustling every single day, every single way and yet look so gorgeous doing so. Its a woman alright, but its an Empowered woman now. Welcome to the woman’s world.
We will hear lots of words today, lots of wishes, lots of good vibes but what remains to be done is to be done by us every day- Safer streets, no glass ceilings, the freedom to be, to breathe easy. Its a process that goes beyond this day, it has to become our everyday. We are standing for an equal world where everything is fair and rational.
This year I tied up with a brand called THE LOOM TREE to celebrate the spirit of International Women’s day. The Loom Tree is a an artisanal brand that promotes sustainable fashion. Its a brand that celebrates Indian textiles and crafts, promotes their potential and contributes to a greater cause. Its a brand that interestingly is so much connected what Women’s day is about. The Loom Tree is about fashion that allows you to feel good in your own skin and just be yourself. Its a brand for women who want to try out new things without losing their Indian Roots. As you can judge(un-judge) from my outfit, its all about ethical fashion, that transcends just clothing to become one with your soul.
I am all for fashion that lets me breathe and experiment and this outfit is exactly that: Ajrak Dhoti pants, A slightly boho looking Ikat print cami(isn’t this fusion at its best!) and a cream cape that flows free came together harmoniously to give me a look that literally speaks my mind. Its not conservative and its bold in its own exotic way. The colors and prints are unique but they come together perfectly in sync not just because I styled them that way but also because they make me feel so good. Clothes that reflect your inner self are the best kind of expression. Mixing prints is something that has been in trend currently and this cover up creases out any traces of mismatch that could possibly happen.
Its a look that says ‘I am happy being who I am and I don’t care what you think. I am comfortable embracing my Indianess and yet exposing my global sensibilities, I am one with humanity and I won’t let you slot me, divide me or judge me. I am me.’
Honestly I became my own stylist at Loom Tree as I sifted through various temptations on the website and that’s exactly what the brand is trying to encourage.
The Loom Tree would love for all you amazing empowered women out there to #BeYourOwnStylist and celebrate Women’s Day just like I did. Break down the barriers and show some love for yourself.

She is fickle. she’s fun.
She’s a dreamer, she’s always on the run.
A mother, a daughter, a sister, a wife,
Boss lady, teacher, struggler, the best juggler,
friend of friends and your worst nightmare if you do her wrong.
She’s a woman, a complete woman, always a woman, always The One.
