If you are thinking that celebration time is over, think again! After the weddings, new year’s party and all the jazz say hello to the festivities all over again as LOHRI is knocking on your door next! The grand, joyous harvest festival is definitely one of the biggest festivals of north India, especially Punjabis. But we all love a good LOHRI party don’t we? All the popcorns and rewaris, the dhol and nagadas, this BONFIRE festival surely is one helluva party to look forward to. Its one vibrant festival full of music, joy and vivaciousness. It is occasions such as these that make our culture and heritage special and unique.
Besides the festivities, one big question for all the ladies would be WHAT TO WEAR TO A LOHRI PARTY?
Well that depends on how elaborate your celebration is. We in India have very upscale Lohri parties for newlyweds or firstborns in the family. If it’s a low key affair with a few friends and family, you can just wear a light suit but when it is a gala party, you have to dress up in fine ethnic wear to ring in the occasion in style.
I kept it simple and yet apt for a good lohri party with this long straight kurta over a ghagra skirt. You can team up this kurta with palazzos or leggings as well.
However, I gave it a more ethnic treatment to make the look fit for the occasion. Polki jhumkis and a multihued clutch by MESE, these accessories completed my festive look.
I love this color and also the tropical print as it makes for a different choice for any ethnic outfit.
You can wear dhoti drape clothing, sarees, lehengas, cigarette pants with kurtis, palazzos, anarkalis and even light lehengas.
HAVE A HAPPY LOHRI EVERYONE!
Like always, would love your feedback on this outfit!
