Its been almost 10 years since the term “STREET STYLE” officially burst open the doors to an entire dimension of fashion and photography to the world. Back then, now Veteran Scott Schuman would have never imagined that his casually captured images of show goers at Milan’s Spring 2007 men’s collections would begin a revolution of sorts in terms of fashion and its portrayal to the world. His blog The Sartorialist, is like a of bible for street style enthusiasts all over the world inspiring a genre of professionals who focus almost exclusively on this domain, including many of us from the blogging commune.
I would have to admit, if street style wasn’t there, blogging would not have reached the kind of hype and heights that its gaining by the day. Almost every second #ootd that we do is inspired by #streetstyle and hence this post is dedicated to my affair with the most common known fashion statement- the street style.
What is streetstyle and how does one define it?
While The Sartorialist maybe a relatively recent phenomenon, there have been photographers as early as 1978 (Bill Cunnigham, Jamel Shabazz, Ishizu etc) whose snaps of people captured randomly outside the shows can be called as the ARCHIVES for the origins of street style.
Well generally speaking its the style that’s emerged not on the runways but on the streets- its an individual’s interpretation of fashion and trends. Its how you would be casually strutting down a street on an exceptionally feel good day when somebody captures you on camera. Only now, its not so much simple. Street style seems to have lost its authenticity, people KNOW they will be looked at, or photographed flaunting a certain look but that’s probably just another evolution. After all, everything has to progress further right, and in fashion we don’t have rules. Street style is the kind of fashion that makes varsity jackets and snazzy glasses teamed up with formal dresses look cool. It’s essentially a spirit that probably comes through a certain angle portraying certain looks.
For me Street style is just a more dressier version of my own style. I dress up one notch better than I would Only because I pretend that I am going to step out and paparazzi will be waiting to snap me (wishful thinking I know). But seriously, its a feel good style. Its about comfort, its about embracing trends and giving it your own twist. If you follow your favorite celebrities on Instagram, you would know what I am taking about.
MY STREETSTYLE #OOTD
I am a huge fan of street style and lately its the only statement I have been advocating on my blog, mostly because its holiday season and staying street smart is a norm now for everyone.
Have a look at this Olive jumpsuit that I dressed up with a Denim Jacket and snakeskin print heels. Olive is the color of the moment and a denim jacket is a style essential. Combining these two and elevating it with heels was my idea of getting snapped while walking casually by.

Well all said and done, I think this is a very wearable look that you can carry on a day date, to work(minus the neck piece) . Do let me know in the thoughts below if you think I have done justice to #streetstyle with this #ootd.
